When Balance Fails: Clinical Predictors of Falls Among Community-Dwelling Older Adults
Keywords:

Falls remain a leading cause of disability and hospitalization among older adults. Early recognition of modifiable risk factors may improve preventive strategies. This community-based observational study examined clinical predictors associated with falls among independently living older adults. Mobility assessment, medication history, visual status, and balance performance were evaluated. Reduced lower-limb strength, impaired balance, polypharmacy, and visual impairment were commonly associated with increased fall risk. Comprehensive geriatric assessment may facilitate early intervention and reduce fall-related morbidity.
